About 2011TIFA

The Taiwan International Festival of Arts was launched in 2009 aiming at “crossing borders”, ”crossing cultures” and “crossover”, and featuring original productions, whilst inviting internationally acclaimed arts groups. We are proud to have raised the ratio of Taiwanese productions featuring local artists and talents, since TIFA is defined as a world-class event with local roots and spirit.

TIFA 2011 comes with exciting programs that exceed expectations. In our age of globalization, exchanges and dialogues across the border of countries have become part of our daily life. Performing arts serve the need for in-depth connections, bind friendships and enhance understandings between peoples. It is the expression of fine culture that promotes deep friendship, peace and breaks all kinds of barriers.

In TIFA 2011, we experience European avant-garde drama as well as Taiwanese traditional theater. We are very excited to present our original Feature program, a Taiwanese musical version of La dame aux Camélias by director Tadashi Suzuki and Taiwanese artists. This is a wonderful fusion of Oriental and Occidental cultures.

An important mission of the NTCH is to enable Taiwanese artists to realize their dreams, to produce programs with Taiwanese elements. We have a unique mix of cultural traditions here in Taiwan, and the world should have a chance to see it, experience it in person. In addition to introducing excellent programs from abroad, the NTCH proudly present some local cultural brands and artistic groups at TIFA 2011. Ming Hwa Yuan, Huang, Chun-hsiung TV Puppet Theatre, and Performance Workshop are all splendid examples. At TIFA 2011 you will enjoy the results of their persistence and devotion in the arts. We have a variety of programs from different countries that will enrich our view and cultural experience. So do plan to come and enjoy, and share your support for Taiwanese artists!
