This mysterious text in Chinese is found by a shadow puppeteer in modern Istanbul. It is the start of exciting story that will take the audience to the past and the present, to the East and West and from the alleyways of old Peking through the Silk Road to Istanbul, all this developing around the touching story of two lovers that are separated in the past and re-united in the present.
This is the world premiere of this production which has been prepared for over two years.
The show is a cooperation of the Taiyuan Puppet Theatre Company from Taipei together
with the Istanbul Shadow Theatre Company of the famous Cengiz Ozek and the Beijing Shadow
Theatre Troupe, with 6th generation puppet master Lu Baogang. The Shadows of Love is a
visual music theater production with fascinating interaction of original film footage from
Beijing and Istanbul, shadow theatre, acrobatics, actors and original music composed by Joe Lee.
