Take Off!
An Adventure to Break Through the Status Quo

Chang Hsiu-ping successfully transformed a seemingly depressive escape into a joyful ride of adventure with her unique physical vocabularies and complicated choreography.

In Take Off, collaborating with artists from Korea, the choreographer and the director consider taking off as a way to get rid of predetermined circumstances and to break the status quo, while Taiwanese dancers and Korean actors jointly explore the outburst of their physical power. Inspired by the concept of “moving light source,” the technical team integrates the computer technology and industriousness, thereby creating a surrealistic scene that mixes reality and fantasy.

As a result, “Take Off” is no longer an escape for criminals, but instead a positive force aiming for a breakthrough.

Chang Hsiu-Ping

Artistic Director and Choreographer Chang Hsiu-ping gained a MFA in dancing from New York University and was invited to the 2014 World Dance Alliance Global Summit in France. The Martha’s Vineyard Times commented that her works “show the quirkiness and brilliance of the talented choreographer Chang Hsiu-ping.”
