Forms of Varieties Build a Stage of Abundance
Masterpiece of the Director of the Festival d'Avignon

Before surrendering his power to his daughters, King Lear wants to know which of the three will express her love for him most emphatically and thus receive the largest share of his legacy. The falsification of language and its acceptance lead to a bloodbath, in which everyone is ruined. One of the four great tragedies written by William Shakespeare more than 400 years ago, is<King Learstill a play for the twentieth century?

Olivier Py, who amazed Taiwanese audiences with his work of genius,<Miss Knife Sings Olivier Py, reconstructs Shakespeare’s world of cruelty with a translation in free verse, sharp and in the present tense. In this world, all are busy digging their own graves, heroes and villains, old men and young heirs, and rushing headlong towards oblivion. Since its grand premiere in the Cour d'honneur of the Popes Palace, the production co-produced by the National Theater & Concert Hall has attracted great attention and discussions. This is a performance that will definitely excite you, impress you and make you remember!
