An unforgettable contemporary dance classic with best lineup

Six selected dancers and one world premiere usher in a journey of diverse emotions

Kylworks consists of four short pieces--Anonymous, 14”20’, Fortune Cookies and Birth-Day--from internationally renowned choreographer Jiří Kylián. Fortune Cookies is a co-production with the NTCH and will be performed by former dancers of the Nederlands Dans Theater including Sabine Kupferberg, the choreographer’s muse and wife. With focus on human emotions and care for life, Kylián fuses the lyricism and clarity of classical ballet and the power of contemporary dance to create a stage full of originality and multi-layered images in the sound effects of finely selected music, rendering soul-stirring performances.

The Nederlands Dans Theater brought Kylián’s works to Taiwan in 1987, 1999 and 2002. The theater lured audiences away with their consummate skills and strong emotions, building itself an irreplaceable status for numerous performance goers.

Artists

Jiří Kylián became artistic director of the Nederlands Dans Theater, NDT I, at the age of 28 in 1975 and created two more companies: NDT II for dancers just out of school and NDT III for dancers beyond the age of forty. His choreographic talent has brought NDT to a renowned international level and allowed him to rank himself among one of the top choreographers. In 1999, Kylián passed the artistic direction on to the new generation and stayed as house choreographer until 2009. Kylian has created 100 works, his latest creations not only include pure dance choreographies but more film/dance productions. Kylworks represents a strong belief of his: "all ages dance"!
