Beatles. It is the accompanying instrument for the hit song “Norwegian Wood”. A master of the Indian sitar and Grammy nominee, Shujaat Khan, joined by the tabla artist Abhiman Kaushal, completely stunned many patrons who heard Northern Indian music for the first time at the “Ways to Listen to the World-India” series held by the NTCH in 2012. Shujaat Khan, a master at imitating the subtleties of the human voice with the sitar , his trademark playing style, is one of the greatest North Indian classical musicians of his generation. In collaboration with Abhiman Kaushal, the tabla artist of North Indian music, Shashank Subramanyam, the Bamboo flute performer of South Indian music, and Parupalli Phalgun, the mridangam drum artist of South Indian music for live improvisation, Shujaat Khan will unfold the panorama of the north and South Indian music.
