m¡longa, Highly Acclaimed in Europe and United States, Now Tours to Asia “Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui's show takes tango to another level!” – The Sydney Morning

m¡longa, a joint endeavor of Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, choreographer who has taken the world by storm in recent years, and Argentine dancers and musicians, re-presents social dance-evenings held in late night bars in Buenos Aires. Cherkaoui draws on traditional influences but adds a contemporary twist to tango. Fascinated by tango since his childhood, Cherkaoui once said, “What attracts me most about tango is the eternal embrace of the dancers. When a tango couple dances, we sense the hypnotic dialogue between two bodies connecting intuitively, merging into one. If there is such a thing as my style of dance, it is rooted in touch, in physical contact and that is inherent in tango.” m¡longa features 10 Argentine dancers, 2 contemporary dancers and an Argentinean quintet, jointly integrating the new and old tango in the 21st century and presenting a tango that belongs to Cherkaoui. A Sadler’s Wells London production, m¡longa is acclaimed by The Guardian as Cherkaoui’s “most touching and entertaining show.”
