The NSO is off to Europe again, following its huge success there in November 2013. This time the orchestra plays in six cities in five countries: Brussels, Warsaw, Berlin, Lyon, Linz and Vienna. As a send-off celebration at home, the NSO offers a program drawn from the repertory to be performed on the tour. This includes popular symphonies (Dvořák’s From the New World and Shostakovich’s Fifth), famous concertos (Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 2 with Taiwanese-born soloist Ray Chen and Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G with Alexandre Tharaud), plus a major Taiwanese work, Gordon Chin’s Symphony No. 3 (Taiwan).
Conductor │ Shao-Chia Lü
“(Shao-Chia Lü) bietet der Klangkörper in der Philharmonie ein Bild erstrebter Makellosigkeit.“ ─ Der Tagesspiegel
Violin │ Ray Chen
“Ray has proven himself to be a very pure musician with great qualities such as a beautiful youthful tone, vitality and lightness. He has all the skills of a truly musical interpreter.” - Maxim Vengerov, violinist
“ The real star of the show was Taiwan Philharmonic [(it’s the National Symphony Orchestra at home)]. Shao-Chia Lü drew a full measure of passionate outpouring from his superbly trained musicians. Climaxes were overwhelming but never overbearing. Only world’s greatest orchestras can play so loud without becoming garish. “ ─ der neue Merker
